Collection: Bathing Water Filter for Hard Water

A bathing water filter cleans the water you bathe and wash your hair in, right at your bathroom tap or shower. Care Dale's filter removes 96% of chlorine and blocks 92% of calcium, fits most Indian taps and shower arms in about two minutes with no plumber, and comes in two versions matched to your water source: municipal water at ₹1,499, or borewell and tanker water at ₹1,899.

Which bathing water filter fits your water?

Match the filter to the water that reaches your bathroom. Hardness and chlorine differ by source, so the cartridge inside differs too.

Your water What it usually carries Pick Price Built to handle inlet water up to
Municipal or corporation supply Moderate hardness, added chlorine Filter for Municipal Water (4.97/5, 515 reviews) ₹1,499 ₹3,100 About 800 ppm TDS
Borewell High hardness, white scaling on taps Filter for Borewell/Tanker Water (4.95/5, 295 reviews) ₹1,899 ₹3,699 About 1,800 ppm TDS
Tanker or mixed supply Hardness that changes load to load Filter for Borewell/Tanker Water ₹1,899 ₹3,699 About 1,800 ppm TDS

The ppm figures describe the inlet water each filter is built to handle. They are not a reduction claim. If you are not sure what comes out of your tap, a five-minute hardness test at home tells you which one to pick.

Bathroom water purifier or bathing water filter?

Many people search for a water purifier for the bathroom, a bathing water purifier or a tap water purifier for the bathroom. The honest answer is that most of them need a filter, not a purifier. A purifier or RO is built to make water safe to drink: it lowers TDS, runs slowly and wastes water doing it. Dryness, frizz and white residue after a bath come mostly from hardness and chlorine, and that is what a bathing water filter is made to handle.

Care Dale bathing water filter Bathroom RO or purifier Whole-house salt softener
Built for Bathing and hair wash Drinking-grade water Every outlet in the home
Hardness and chlorine 92% calcium blocked, 96% chlorine removed Reduced, with water wastage Hardness removed with salt
Upfront cost ₹1,499 to ₹1,899 ₹50,000+ ₹15,000 to ₹50,000
Install 2 minutes, no plumber Plumbing work Plumbing and floor space
Running cost ₹699 or ₹899 cartridge every 3 to 4 months Membranes and service ₹6,000+ a year in salt

Care Dale works like a water softener for your bathroom, without salt, ion exchange or plumbing. It is filtration, not a purifier, so it does not lower TDS or remove iron and heavy metals. Keep your kitchen purifier for drinking water. Our guide to RO purifier vs shower filter explains why most homes need both.

Why use a water filter for bathing?

Hard water carries dissolved calcium and magnesium. They stop soap and shampoo from lathering properly, leave a film on skin and hair after rinsing, and build up as white limescale on taps and tiles. City water also carries chlorine, which is added to keep drinking water safe but is harsh on skin and hair when you bathe in it every day.

A water filter for bath time treats the exact water that touches you. In many Indian homes that means a bucket filled at the tap, so a tap water filter for bathing does the same job a shower filter does in a home that showers.

An independent clinical study (50 participants, TDS above 500 ppm, 4 weeks) found 78% hair fall reduction, 11% scalp hydration increase and 87% would recommend Care Dale. Hair fall also depends on diet, stress, sleep and genetics, so a filter is one part of the answer, not a cure.

What happens to bathing water inside the filter?

Each cartridge filters in layers, with no salt, chemicals or waste water:

  • Municipal cartridge: a sediment layer, the CareTec mesh, then a chlorine removal layer.
  • Borewell/Tanker cartridge: a sediment layer, an extra hardness layer, the CareTec mesh, then a chlorine removal layer.

Within the ultrafiltration membrane housing, CareTec media neutralise dissolved calcium and magnesium, preventing limescale buildup and leaving skin and hair free from hard water damage. This does not rely on chemical exchange, which needs very frequent maintenance (every 2 weeks).

Water leaves the filter at pH 5.5 to 6.5. The cartridge starts white and turns brown as it traps what your water carries, so you can see when it is due for a change.

Does a bathing water filter fit my tap, shower or bucket bath?

Your bathroom fitting Will it fit?
Pillar cock, wall-mixer spout or basin mixer with a removable aerator Yes. Unscrew the aerator and fit the filter in its place
Threaded shower arm Yes. Fit it between the arm and your existing shower head
Bucket bath or head bath Yes. Fit it on the tap you fill the bucket from
Sensor tap or concealed spout with no visible thread No. Use the shower arm in the same bathroom

Indian bathroom taps and shower arms use a standard half-inch thread, and both the tap fitting and the shower fitting come in the box. There is no drilling or pipe cutting, which matters if you rent. See our tap fit guide and the step-by-step install guide.

What does a bathroom water filter cost to run?

Item Municipal water Borewell and tanker water
Bathing water filter ₹1,499 ₹1,899
Replacement cartridge ₹699 ₹899
Cartridge life 3 to 4 months, about 25,000 litres 3 to 4 months, about 25,000 litres

That puts the running cost of a municipal bathroom water filter at roughly ₹175 to ₹235 a month. A borewell water filter for the bathroom works out at roughly ₹225 to ₹300 a month. Comparing options before you buy? Our guide to the best shower filter for hard water in India sets out what to check.

Bathing water filter questions

Can I drink water from a bathing water filter?

No. Treat it as bathing water only. A bathing filter reduces hardness, chlorine and sediment, but it makes no drinking-water claim. Use a purifier that meets IS 10500 for drinking and cooking.

Will my TDS meter reading drop after fitting the filter?

No. The ppm rating is a sizing guide for the inlet water only, so the TDS reading stays about the same. What changes is that calcium and magnesium are neutralised and chlorine is removed, so less hardness sticks to skin, hair and fittings.

Does a bathing filter work with hot water from a geyser?

Yes. The filter is hot water compatible, so it can sit on a mixer tap or shower fed by a geyser line.

Does a bathroom filter reduce water pressure?

Slightly. Every inline cartridge adds a little resistance, and on a normal supply most people do not notice. A sharp drop after some weeks usually means the cartridge is full of sediment and due for a change.

How do I know when to change the cartridge?

The cartridge turns from white to brown as it fills. Change it when it is fully brown, or every 3 to 4 months, whichever comes first. Borewell and tanker water with heavy sediment can reach that point sooner.

Do I need one filter for each bathroom?

Yes. A filter treats the one outlet it is fitted to, so each bathroom needs its own on the tap or shower you actually wash under.

Can I take the filter with me when I move house?

Yes. It unscrews in the same two minutes it took to fit, leaves the tap or shower arm as it was, and fits the next bathroom.
